Receiver Strips
Why are there two different receiver strips? It is important to have the appropriate curve for the diameter you are cutting. View Receiver Strips The water valve receiver strips have a smaller radius
Are the receiver strips the same for all the cutters? Yes
How many cuts should I get before replacing the receiver strips? 500 in medium asphalt
When should I replace the receiver strips? When you see significant wear that will prohibit the teeth from staying secure
How do you replace the receiver strips? Cut off the receiver strip and weld on a new one
Auger Motors
What is the brand of the auger motor? We supply two brands of auger motors. Check your manual to see which brand you have, either a Digga brand or a Premier brand.
What is the recommended hydraulic flow for the auger motor? The motors require at least 20 gpm to maintain an effective RPM range
What is the size of the hex shaft on the auger motor? It is a 2-½” shaft
What type of mount does the motor come with? The motors ship with a universal mounting bracket
Can I get a special mount for an excavator or a backhoe? Yes you can by special order, we will need your machine brand, model and serial #.
Can I mount the motor on any other equipment? Yes you can, the tools can be mounted on a variety of equipment via a custom mount
What hoses and fittings does the motor come with? The motor will ship with three hydraulic hoses, one hose is a drain line and the other two carry the hydraulic feed and return, the fitting are a quick disconnect coupler female 12” FFC ¾” O-RING, quick disconnect coupler female 1/2” FFC ¾” O-RING, and a quick disconnect coupler male 1/2” FFC ¾” O-RING, also on the drain line a FASTER INC ⅜” female flat face quick disconnect coupler with a ½” O-RING Boss threaded end.
Why do I need a third line(drain line)? Your drive motor is being subjected to tremendous forces as it cuts, the drain line relieves the internal pressure and insures the longevity of the motor.
Can I replace the seals in the motor? Yes you can, contact the manufacturer for parts and instructions.
What type of gear oil should I put in the motor? Check your operators manual for fluid recommendations.
How do I check the gear oil level? If the motor needs service how do I arrange that? Your manual will tell you how to check the gear oil level
Can I use a different auger motor frame than the one that comes with the auger motor? No, the auger motor frame provided is specifically designed to be used with the Mr. Manhole cutter. The auger motor frame extends the motor 12″ further from the front of the skid steer allowing larger diameter cuts without the cutter hitting the front of the machine.
Speedplates
The Standard Speedplate will fit what size manholes? 17”- 25½”
The XL Speedplate will fit what size manholes? 23”- 43½”
The Smoothwall Speedplate will fit what size manholes? 18”- 27”
Is there an option for an XL Smoothwall Speedplate? Yes there is. Contact us for a quote on a custom base that expands your Speedplate.
Can I purchase the Gripper studs for the Smoothwall Speedplate? Yes you can, [P-MM0285]
What is the function of the safety bar? The safety bar attaches to the Speedplate and prevents it being dropped into the manhole. Safety Bar Assembly – YouTube
Can I replace the bumper pads? Yes you can, [P-MM0055]
Can I replace the thread cushion? Yes you can. [P-MM0141]
Can I replace the wear block? Yes you can [P-MM0051]
Why did my Wear block fail? Your operator may be running the cutter motor while attempting to remove the Guideshaft from the Speedplate.
What is the function of the Wear block? The wear block prevents excessive wear on the Guideshaft.
How do I replace the Wear block? Remove the single small bolt at one end of the Wear Block, remove and replace the block and then the bolt.
Why adjust the hanger tabs? To fit the specific manhole frame you are cutting. You want to keep the opening at the tabs as close as possible while still fitting over the frame’s lid seat.
Why do I need a Speedplate?
The Mr. Manhole cutters operate a lot like a hole saw. As you are aware, hole saws always needs a center guide bit to keep it from “walking”. The Guideshaft that is part of each one of the manhole cutters, acts just like the guide bit on a hole saw. Because the manhole opening is quite large, we need to place something in the opening with a smaller hole to fit the Guideshaft into. The Speedplate is perfect for this purpose. We also need a way to extract the manhole frame and road overcut following the cutting operation. The Speedplate allows us to do this by way of the key on the Guideshaft and the key shaped hole in the Speedplate.

How many repairs can I do daily with a five man crew? History with our installers tells us 8-20 repairs are reasonable
How do I dispose of the debris as we do manhole repairs? They will be hauled to a dump site
How should my crew handle traffic control? We recommend using a traffic control company or having the City handle traffic control,
How should I price the Mr. Manhole repairs? Study the going rates in your area and do some searches on what people are charging in various locations, Do a few repairs and calculate your profitability and adjust pricing as needed
How deep of a chimney section can I do with the Mr. Manhole liner material? There is no limitation imposed by the liner itself as it is very structurally capable of any depth repair, There will probably be rules governing max depth allowed in each jurisdiction

What does the Easy-slope tool do? It marks the Mr. Manhole liner material to be cut at the correct height and slope to receive the manhole frame

Can the Mr. Manhole repair system stop leakage? Absolutely, when a manhole chimney is repaired according to the Mr. Manhole specifications, all leakage will be stopped

How strong is the Mr. Manhole liner material? The liner can withstand in excess of 180,000 lbs column loading
Do I need to use the sealant? The Mr. Manhole sealant is an essential part of stopping the leakage in the manhole chimney, it is not structural
Do I need to use the rebar circles? Yes, the rebar circles are essential to the structural integrity of the Mr. Manhole repair
Do any of the repair materials need to be kept out of the cold? The pourable sealant is best kept above freezing, all the other components are not temperature sensitive
Centering System
Do you have a system to cut through the road or pavement where there is no manhole? Yes we do [A-MM0602]
Water Valve Repair
What size cut should I make around a water valve box? 28” is a common size but bigger is more structurally stable.
How do I remove the top section of the water valve box? It should twist off like a bolt and nut, you will often need to break it off if it is corroded. We sell the water valve blaster for this purpose [A-MM0480]
Should I use rebar in the water valve box repair? Rebar is recommended in all repairs.
Why use the black dye? The black dye is for appearance only.

Rental Information
#1 What kind of a skid loader are you going to need to operate the rental unit?

- A skid loader or a forklift
- The customer must be present when the rental unit is delivered.
- We must have the contact name and phone number of the person who will be present during the delivery of the rental unit.
- If they are not there for the delivery there will be additional shipping charges.

- The rental unit ships with 24 teeth installed on the cutter

- If you think that you will be cutting through harder material other than just asphalt, you may want to purchase more teeth.

Skid Steer Loader
Skid Steer Loader Requirements
The loader should have at least 20 gallons per minute hydraulic flow. It is a plus for the loader to have a high flow hydraulic circuit generating 30 gallons per minute flow and it needs 3000 to 4500 PSI with the ability to lift 2500 pounds or more. Your skid loader should have between 75 and 95 hp or more. It will need to be equipped with the universal mounting system that almost all loaders have and your skid loader will need to have an auxiliary hydraulic circuit with flat-faced hydraulic fittings as shown, these are the most common type of fittings. Check to see if your skid steer loader is compatible.
